The purpose of the briefing was to take the Committee through the draft proposed Land and Water Regional Plan that was to be shared with iwi authorities under clause 4A of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991. Clause 4A requires Council to provide a copy of the draft proposed Plan to the iwi authorities consulted during the preparation of the Plan. The Committee discussed a number of topics, including works within the bed of a waterbody, freshwater farm plans, intensification of land use, and forestry. This discussion has been informative for plan drafters in preparing the draft Plan. The briefing was public excluded to maintain legal professional privilege which arose because of legal advice received on the draft Plan.
