Limited notice is hereby given pursuant to s.95B of the Resource Management Act 1991 that the following application for resource consent has been received by Otago Regional Council.

Reasons for limited notification:  Under s95B(9) the Council must give limited notification to a person if the adverse effects on that person will be minor or more than minor.

This is a “Limited Notified Application,” meaning that it has only been served on those parties whom the Otago Regional Council considers may be adversely affected by the application. No persons, other than those that may be adversely affected, can submit on this application.  A letter has been delivered on Monday 5 August 2024 to the addresses of Affected Parties as listed on pages 45 & 46 of the ‘RM24.143 s95 Notification Report’ which is available to view below.

Dunedin City Council – Resource Recovery Park Precinct

Application No. RM24.143

The Otago Regional Council has received an application from Dunedin City Council for the following resource consents relating to the construction and operation of the Resource Recovery Park Precinct:

Application RM24.143 by Dunedin City Council to undertake various activities for the purpose of constructing and operating the Resource Recovery Park Precinct, Green Island.

Location: Green Island Landfill, located at 9,114, 140, and 170 Brighton Road, Green Island.

RM24.143.01 – Land Use Consent: To disturb a contaminated site for construction of the Resource Recovery Park Precinct.

RM24.143.02 – Discharge to Air Permit: To discharge contaminants to air associated with the disturbance of contaminated land for the construction of the Resource Recovery Park Precinct.

RM24.143.03 – Discharge to Air Permit: To discharge odour and dust to air from composting activities and from industrial and trade processes directly associated with the operation of facilities at the Resource Recovery Park Precinct.

RM24.143.04 – Divert Water Permit: To divert stormwater from working and non-working areas of the Resource Recovery Park Precinct within or within 100 metres of a natural inland wetland.

RM24.143.05 – Discharge to Water Permit: To discharge treated stormwater from the Resource Recovery Park Precinct to water within Kaikorai Stream within or within 100 metres of a natural inland wetland.

This application is specific to the Resource Recovery Park Precinct and is not for the wider Green Island Landfill.
