Regional Councils are required to involve communities and Tangata Whenua when developing the land and water regional plan.
November 2021 – March 2022: We asked communities what they value about their local rivers, lakes and streams and talked about the characteristics of waterways that matter most to them. This feedback informed the environmental outcomes set in the draft Plan.
October – December 2022: We presented the environmental outcomes developed through the first round of feedback and talked about ways we could manage waterways and land to achieve these outcomes.
September – November 2023: We presented draft region-wide and FMU or rohe-specific provisions, including rules and limits.
The draft Plan will be formally notified as the ‘proposed’ LWRP. The ‘proposed’ Plan will be available later this year, when it is scheduled for ‘public notification’.
