ORC is responsible for planning significant regional land transport activities for Otago. We do this by producing a Regional Land Transport Plan and Regional Public Transport Plan.
We develop a joint Otago-Southland Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) in collaboration with Environment Southland, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, and the regions' City and District councils. The RLTP outlines the 30-year strategic objectives and 10-year network improvement plans for the regions' transport network. We review the RLTP every three years following the release of the Government Policy Statement on land transport.
We review the Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP) as soon as practical following the adoption of a new Regional Land Transport Plan. The RPTP is developed in collaboration with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, and the City and District councils of the region. It is a statutory document that guides our design and delivery of public transport services, information, and infrastructure.
Guided by these plans:
The Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) outlines Otago’s 10-year transportation projects and programmes. The RLTP is a collaborative plan, overseen by the Regional Transport Committee (RTC), which consists of the Local authorities of Otago Region and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi
The Otago Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP) is a guide for planning and improving public transport in Otago.
