ORC is responsible for planning and coordinating significant regional land transport activities for Otago and does this by cooperating with Environment Southland, NZ Transport Agency – Waka Kotahi and the Councils of the regions through our combined Regional Land Transport Plan.
We are required to review our plans at least every 3 years to ensure they remain relevant.
We advocate for Regional Transport needs at a national level and support the Regional Transport Committee in their work for the regions.
We plan and deliver urban public transport services. By developing a Regional Public Transport Plan a legislative document which sets out our objective and policies for delivering public transport in Otago region. We are required to review the RPTP within one year of the RLTP being adopted.
We also support total mobility services.
The Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) outlines Otago’s 10-year transportation projects and programmes. The RLTP is a collaborative plan, overseen by the Regional Transport Committee (RTC), which consists of the Local authorities of Otago Region and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi
