There are many things we can do to make sure buses and our communities stay safe, two in particular when it comes to public transport.  

We can unite against COVID-19 by:

• Keeping track of our travel. Wherever you go and whatever you do, record it. And if you see a QR code, scan it.

If you have fallen out of the habit of using the app, please start again – reset your habits and start now. If you don’t have a phone, use another method like pen and paper to keep a record so that if there is a community outbreak here in Dunedin, there is a record of where you’ve travelled.

• Wearing a mask. Masks help stop the spread of COVID-19. While it’s not compulsory under Alert Level 1, we urge people to take and wear masks or other face coverings on public transport. This will help protect both you and other members of the public.

Last week for a free Bee Card

If you haven’t already got your card, get one soon, as cards are no longer free after Saturday 31 October. After this, retailers, including bus drivers, charge $5 per card.

You also have until 11:59pm on Saturday 31 October to transfer your credit from your old GoCard to your new Bee Card. A portion of unclaimed funds will go toward the travelbank, which helps people in need with public transport credit. The forms are online at www.orc.govt.nz/BeeCard.

Changes to Mosgiel travel for Safer Schools

Due to school safety improvements in the Mosgiel area as part of the Safer School Streets project by Dunedin City Council (working with Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board, the Otago Regional Council and schools), there are some changes in this area.

Route 81 will continue to travel down Argyle Street and no longer make the Mure St, Shaw St and Inglis St loop. This change took effect on Monday 26 October and is permanent.

In the same area, route 77 has a permanent change too. We have removed the stop at 40 Factory Rd to enable the upgrades for the Safer Schools project.
