Face coverings on buses

Following government advice, all bus passengers and drivers in Dunedin will need to wear a face mask on the bus as of Monday 31 August.

The official COVID-19 page says as well as medical and re-usable masks you can use other coverings including a bandana, scarf or t-shirt. At Alert Level 2 and higher, people at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 should use medical masks to help prevent infection.

At the time of going to print we don’t know if certain ages are exempt.

Please be kind and considerate and do the right thing – wear a mask, distance yourself on the bus and track your travel, for example by using the QR code on each bus.

Are you ready with your Bee Card?

The Bee Card goes live next Tuesday 1 September, which means you’ll need to pay when you catch the bus. The fares with the Bee Card are $2 per adult for any trip, $1.20 for children for any trip, or $3 without a Bee Card.

If you’ve got a Bee Card already, register it to get benefits including topping it up online. That way, you’ll bee ready on Tuesday to tag on and tag off the bus.

*Please note, children must register their Bee Card for a concession fare as a birth date is required. 

St Kilda 44 and 55 changes in the future

Earlier this year we proposed a change to the St Kilda bus routes and requested feedback from the community. We engaged further on an amended route option to change routes 44 and 55 and use all of Moreau Street instead of East Avenue and Hargest Crescent. This route change has now been approved, and we will start the process of making the change.  

Timetables will stay fairly close to what they are currently, but don’t worry, we will keep you updated on when this will occur.
