Upcoming work on cable ducts at the Bus Hub

Thursday 16 May 2019

Cabling work at Great King Street will take place over weekends starting Saturday 25 May. The Hub will function throughout with minimal disruption but some services will have new stops allocated during this time. The last weekend of roadworks will close some of St Andrew Street.

When do the works begin?

Otago Regional Council has established a schedule with the contractors to conduct the work on consecutive weekends starting Saturday 25 May, but skipping Queen’s Birthday weekend (1-2 June).

This schedule is weather-dependent.

How will my service be affected?

This plan has been designed to cause minimal disruption – there is no change to the timetable. Some services will be allocated a new stop at the Hub during this time. As all stops at Hub are close to each other, you will not have to walk far to your new stop. You will get off and get on at the same temporary stop during each weekend. We will signpost clearly at the Hub.

What are the key dates and activity?

  • 25-26 May – Stops B and C will be out of use during this time, and services will be reallocated to other stops at the Hub
  • 1-2 June – No work, due to Queen’s Birthday weekend
  • 8-9 June – Minor disruption and reallocation of services expected
  • 15-16 June – Road closure on St Andrew Street between George Street and Great King Street, diversion routes in place
  • 22-23 June – Back-up weekend, there may be some minor disruption

How do I find out more?

Orbus Dunedin will be sharing the up-to-date information about your stop:
