What does the code of conduct include?
By using the service you accept that every passenger and driver has the right to:
- be treated with respect
- be treated in a friendly and courteous manner
- a safe, clean and comfortable travelling or working environment.
As a passenger you are responsible for:
- your own good behaviour
- respecting other peoples’ rights
- paying the correct fare and presenting valid ID to receive concessions
- following any reasonable instructions from the driver and/or staff members from the Bus Company
- following any request or instruction given by the Otago Regional Council and/or our staff
- telling us if you see anyone damaging the bus
- telling us if you see anyone not complying with this Code of Conduct.
This also means that you may be refused boarding on the bus, or may be asked to get off the bus if you:
- threaten, bully, or harass people on the bus (including the driver)
- swear or use bad language
- eat, drink, or smoke on the bus, or appear under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- are in a filthy condition and likely to soil the bus as a result
- tag, graffiti, or damage the bus in any way
- exhibit anti-social or disorderly behaviour
- bring any animal on the bus that isn’t a guide dog or hearing dog, either working or in training
- have previously vandalised, defrauded or attempted to defraud the bus service.
