Draft Annual Plan queries to be answered in interactive Facebook Q and A

Wednesday 6 April 2016

The Otago Regional Council (ORC) is giving people a chance to quiz the council about the draft 2016-17 Annual Plan in an online Q and A forum.

ORC chairman Stephen Woodhead, deputy chairwoman Gretchen Robertson, and chief executive Peter Bodeker will be available live on ORC’s Facebook page from 7.30pm to 9pm on Monday April 11 to answer questions about the planned work programmes for the 2016-17 financial year.

Mr Woodhead said the interactive Q and A was a first for ORC and followed the distribution throughout Otago of a consultation document which sets out the proposed programme of work and the costs of those activities for the next year. It also includes details of several proposed changes since the 2015-2025 Long Term Plan was put in place last year.

Mr Woodhead said he hoped this online session would be an opportunity for people who may not typically engage in council processes to do so.

“We want to be more aware of the concerns, queries, and feedback people in the region have about how we manage our environment and our public transport network,” he said.

Mr Woodhead encouraged people to register for the session on the ORC Facebook page.

“Registration is not necessary to participate, but will give us an idea of how many people want to take part.”

Guidelines for registering and taking part on the night will be posted on the Facebook page and on ORC’s website.
