Summary of Decisions Requested and Making Further Submissions on the Proposed Regional Policy Statement for Otago Regional Council.

The Otago Regional Council has available a summary of decisions requested by persons who have made submissions on the Proposed Regional Policy Statement for Otago (Proposed RPS).

The Proposed RPS sets out how we will achieve integrated management of Otago’s natural and physical resources.

The summary of decisions requested may be inspected at:

  • Proposed Regional Policy Statement for Otago
  • Otago Regional Council offices:
    - 70 Stafford Street, Dunedin
    - William Fraser Building, Dunorling Street, Alexandra
    - The Station, First Floor, corner Shotover and Camp Streets, Queenstown

The full submissions can be inspected at:

Any office of the Otago Regional Council and online at here.

Certain persons may make a further submission in support of or opposition to the submissions received on the proposal. Clause 8 of Schedule 1 Resource Management Act 1991 identifies those persons who may make a further submission as:
(a) Any person representing a relevant aspect of the public interest; or
(b) Any person who has an interest in the proposal greater than the general public has.

A further submission must state whether you support or oppose an original submission and whether or not you wish to be heard on your further submission.

Further submissions must be in writing and further submission forms are available by phoning the Council on 0800 474 082, from the above sites, or on the website here.

Further submissions close at 5pm, Friday 25 September 2015

A copy of your further submission must be served on the original submitter within five working days after making the further submission to the Otago Regional Council.

The process for public participation, after the closing date for further submissions, is:

  • You may speak in support of your submission at a hearing;
  • The Council gives notice of its decision on the proposal, including its reasons; and
  • Every person making a submission or further submission has the right to appeal to the Environment Court.
