Otago Regional Land Transport Programme 2012 - 2015: Variation

Tuesday 23 September 2014

Variation - High Productivity Motor Vehicles Route – Dunedin to Queenstown – Bridge Strengthening

The Otago Regional Council approved a variation to the Regional Land Transport Programme on 17 September 2014. The variation is the addition of a project to strengthen bridges on State Highway 8 (specifically the Alexandra and Beaumont crossings of the Clutha River). This will enable the whole of the route between Dunedin and Queenstown [SHs 1, 8, and 6] to carry High Productivity Motor Vehicles.

The New Zealand Transport Agency will now decide whether to grant funding for the project.

The Regional Land Transport Programme and the variation are available on Otago Regional Council’s website here. Alternatively, copies of the document can be requested by phoning 03 474 0827 or 0800 474 082, or can be obtained from Council offices at:

  • 70 Stafford Street, Dunedin
  • Dunorling Street, Alexandra
  • The Station, First Floor, cnr Shotover and Camp Streets, Queenstown.
