Changes are in store from August 1 for users of the loop section of the Lookout Point bus service in Dunedin.
ORC director corporate services Wayne Scott said the planned changes to the intersection of South Road and Riselaw Road (as part of safety improvements to State Highway 1 near the entrance to the Southern Motorway), had flow-on consequences for the Lookout Point loop.
The Caversham Valley Road and Burnett Street section of the route would be removed and the direction the bus travels around South Road, Riselaw Road, Waimea Avenue, Ryehill Street, and Sidey Street would be reversed, Mr Scott said.
Some bus stops in the area served by the loop would be moved or lengthened to overcome potential issues buses would have accessing them, and to improve road safety.
ORC was working with the Dunedin City Council to implement the re-organisation of these stops, he said.
About 800 households had already been provided with information about the proposed changes, originally planned for July 1. More information would follow about the final location of the new stops.
Mr Scott recommended bus users familiarise themselves with their new stop. In most cases it would be the closest stop across the road from where they usually waited.
