Changes to the Dunedin bus network timetable, which take effect from the end of next week (1 August), have taken into account community advice about the efficiency and frequency of some city services.
ORC chairman Stephen Woodhead said there will be route and timetable changes to the Corstorphine, Waverley, Ocean Grove/Ross Creek, and Lookout Point services.
“The revised services provide some interim improvements while the council waits for feedback on the draft Otago Regional Public Transport Plan”, he said.
Full details of the changes are in the larger, easier-to-read bus timetables which will be delivered to all Dunedin household postboxes from early next week.
The bus timetable is now an A5 booklet with increased type size and simplified maps, making it easier to follow and clearer to read.
Mr Woodhead said council received feedback from people, particularly the visually impaired, that the layout and colours in the previous timetable was challenging to read and complex to understand.
“We responded to this by investigating the various suggestions with a designer and bringing back samples of possible improvements to meetings with stakeholder representatives”, he said.
“So far we’ve received strong positive feedback about the new look and design,” Mr Woodhead said.
Those who have not received a bus timetable by the end of next week (Friday 1 August) should contact the Dunedin transport call centre for a copy on 474 0287, or view it on the council website.
