Otago flood conditions update 1730hrs

Friday 18 April 2014

MetService has just advised that it has lifted the Severe Weather Warning it had in place for Dunedin, North Otago and Canterbury and that rain in these areas is easing.

The deep low currently west of New Zealand which has been bringing unsettled weather to many parts of the country should weaken and move across the lower South Island Saturday night.

ORC flood managers warn that while the warning has been lifted, many Otago rivers remain high after persistent heavy rain and likely to stay high for the next few days.

ORC’s WaterInfo website (water.orc.govt.nz) has the latest information on river levels in the region.
