Rabbits are a significant priority pest in Otago and they present complex challenges for pest management. One of the contributing factors to the rabbit problem in recent times has been increased urbanisation and changing land use, meaning a greater number of landowners are responsible for rabbit control.

We aim to facilitate a range of community rabbit management initiatives in Otago in the coming years targeting urban and semi-urban areas. Our role will be to bring communities together and support them with the information they need to develop and execute their own rabbit management plans for their areas. ORC will not be undertaking the rabbit control work ourselves.

We have identified key areas to begin this work in and have more sites identified for future years. If you would like to register your interest in community rabbit management initiatives, please fill in this form. We will use this information to let you know when a community meeting will be held in your area or record your interest in being involved in future projects.
